Columbia Mentoring Initiative First Year Application
The Columbia Mentoring Initiative (CMI) is an inter-generational mentorship program administered through Multicultural Affairs (OMA) that connects historically underrepresented first year students with returning students (sophomores, juniors and seniors) from shared social identities, and all students with alumni. CMI provides students the opportunity to get involved in various "family trees" including Arab and Middle Eastern, Asian, Black, Indigenous, International, Latino, and LGBTQ.
First year students will be connected to returning students who will provide them with guidance and support on how to navigate Columbia University and successfully adjust to college life. CMI offers students the opportunity to participate in a variety of events including fun social outings, intimate dinner-discussion programs, and the chance to be mentored by Columbia alumni from a wide range of career fields. Although participants will be asked to specify one family tree, we recognize the multiple and intersecting identities of our students and provide opportunities for CMI participants to get involved in cross-tree CMI wide programming.
Deadline to submit application: Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
