Intercultural Resource Center (IRC)

ICH Residents May 2013

The Intercultural Resource Center (IRC) is devoted to promoting a just society and exploring intercultural and diversity issues within and beyond the Columbia University community. The IRC provides a forum for education and social exchange that encourages self-discovery, increased social awareness, and an appreciation of the cultural histories within and between communities on campus. We strive to equip students, faculty, and staff with the tools necessary to empower themselves, successfully navigate their environments, and positively impact the community at large.

The IRC is housed within two adjoining brownstones and includes meeting spaces, a residential community (the Intercultural House), a student run library, a backyard garden, and administrative offices.

Interested in reserving space in the IRC?

The IRC has two event spaces available to be reserved by both student organizations and community groups. The maximum capacity of each room is twenty-five people. If you are interested in using the space for general meeting purposes, please contact Marta Esquilin (mee2009@columbia.edu). However, if you are interested in hosting a party or a large event in the IRC on a Thursday through Saturday evening, there is a two-step process you must follow. First, email Marta Esquilin to get approval for space use. Once you have received confirmation of approval, you must register your event using the following link (http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/event-reg-form).

Interested in living in the IRC?

Applications to live in the Intercultural House for the 2015-2016 academic year are now available.
