Columbia offers over more than 500 student clubs and organizations, including the Society for Automative Engineers.

Available Majors

Combined Plan students apply to one of the following majors. Please note that for guaranteed admission, each major requires completion of prerequisite courses.

Please note that Financial Engineering is a concentration within the Operations Research major, and that students may apply to be in this concentration only after they are at Columbia. Entrance in this program is very competitive.

Life on Campus

Combined Plan students can participate in the many activities, events, and traditions offered by Columbia University. In particular, Combined Plan students often get involved with engineering-focused groups, including Engineers Without Borders and the Columbia Engineering Student Council.

Combined Plan students are guaranteed housing during their first year at Columbia, and are housed in Carlton Arms, a dormitory-style residence on 362 Riverside Drive. While housing is not guaranteed for the second year, students can use the Off-Campus Housing Office to find an apartment with friends on the Upper West Side.

Life After Columbia

Combined Plan students have full access to The Center for Career Education, the Office of Preprofessional Advising, and the Office of Fellowships, which provide individual advising, programming and rich resources to help students explore and prepare for internships and jobs, graduate school, and fellowship programs.  Graduating student survey results demonstrate that Columbia engineering students are equipped to pursue a variety of paths upon graduation.
