Columbia’s International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO)

ISSO provides a variety of services that help international students adjust to a new academic and cultural environment.

International and Cultural Student Organizations

Columbia's 450+ student-run campus organizations include many which specifically cater to international students.  These clubs sponsor events and initiatives to help international students orient themselves to campus, New York City and the United States, and to celebrate the many global perspectives in the Columbia community.

Preparation and counseling for the many Columbia students who are interested in careers in law, medicine or other health professions.

Safety and Security

While New York City is consistently named one of the safest large cities in the United States, and while Morningside Heights is consistently named one of the safest precincts in New York City, the Office of Public Safety further ensures the security of Columbia’s campus and its students.

Orientation

The New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) provides incoming students with a full academic and social orientation to Columbia and New York City.
