Our Starting Point

Morningside Heights is our home, but it is also where students begin to explore New York City. The great advantage of our campus location is its accessibility to the world beyond the neighborhood by university shuttle, train and bus.

The farmer’s market comes to Broadway every Thursday and Sunday.

Café Science – Professors lead informal discussions on pressing scientific questions of our day over snacks at the Picnic Market Café
Symposium at Symposium – Professors accompany students to talk about books and life in this at this local Greek restaurant
Local coffee joints – Sip coffee while doing your calculus homework at the Hungarian Pastry Shop and Café Fresh, which serves only organic food
Farmer’s Market – Buy fresh produce, baked goods and hot chocolate right on Broadway on Thursdays and Sundays
Smoke Jazz Lounge – Come hear fellow students and professors play live music
Broadway Presbyterian Local Flavor Burrito Shop – A project started by a Union Theological student to support the efforts of a local homeless shelter
Outdoor Jazz in Morningside Park and at Grant’s Tomb
Feast of St. Francis at St. John the Divine Cathedral – Go see the blessing of animals (even Elephants!) at St. John the Divine
Karaoke and Latin jazz at Havana Central
