Peer Adviser Post: Thanksgiving Break

American Thanksgiving will be here soon, along with a much-needed break from academics. There are many different ways that Columbia students spend the holiday, and there’s no single “right way” to do Thanksgiving break. The most important thing is to return to school relaxed and rejuvenated so you can end your semester on a high note.

Eligibility for this fellowships requires you to be EITHER an NIH defined minority OR low-income OR from a rural area. Students must have completed their sophomore year by May 2015, must have a 3.0 grade point average and be a citizen or permanent resident of the US. Columbia’s Advanced Program of Ancient History and Art (APAHA) offers a four-week summer program that provides undergraduate and graduate students with the unique opportunity to excavate and learn together at Hadrian’s Villa, a UNESCO World Heritage site near Rome and the most important of Roman imperial villas. Students will learn archaeological techniques at all levels and think critically about how excavation work allows for deeper insight into the social, political, economic, architectural and artistic history of classical antiquity.

The CSA Peer Advisers and Rotaract of Columbia University are co-hosting the second-annual “Giving Thanks” event. Stop by the Lerner ramp tables on Thursday, November 20 and Friday, November 21 between 11:00-4:00 p.m. to write out a card to any Columbia Faculty/Staff member or department. We provide you with the supplies and free snacks, and you provide us with your thoughts and words of gratitude!
