Center for Career Education - This Week at CCE: Jan. 27-31, 2014

Hello Students,

Highlights this week include our program on Wednesday for international students in partnership with the International Students and Scholars Office. Also on Wednesday, meet with recruiters and alumni from Baublebar.com, Bloomingdales, DKNY, Macy's, Marc Jacobs, and Saks 5th Avenue at CCE's Fashion Industry Showcase. Tomorrow, there is a NYC Tech Talent Draft on campus and, on Friday, opportunity to hear from entrepreneur and Editor-in-Chief of BuzzFeed, Ben Smith.

Next week, meet with AOL, Burson-Marsteller, International Advertising Association and Sudler & Hennessey at the Advertising, Marketing and PR showcase. Also, mark your calendars for some school and department specific programs. GS students - make connections with GS alumni working in nonprofits. CC students - meet with Mischa Zabotin, CC alumnus and Head of International Banking for Credit Agricole Securities (USA) Inc. Students studying chemistry or chemical engineering - meet with alumni and the head of recruitment at DuPont. Details and RSVP links are below in the calendar.

Job Search Skills Workshop and ISSO Presentation for International Students - Wednesday, Jan. 29
The first hour of the workshop will be presented by CCE and will focus on addressing challenges that international students face in the job search process. The ISSO will follow with information for students interested in working in the U.S. after completion of their programs.

Industry Showcase: Fashion – Wednesday, Jan. 29
CCE in partnership with the Columbia College Student Council, HOOT, Columbia College Women, and Columbia College Young Alumni will hold a joint info session and recruiting event for a number of organizations within the fashion industry. Join alumni from Baublebar.com, Bloomingdales, DKNY, Macy's, Marc Jacobs, and Saks 5th Avenue. The networking portion of the event will be an opportunity to learn about participating employers' full-time and summer internship opportunities at our multi-firm industry showcase. Register .

Presidential Global Fellowship Info Session - Wednesday, Jan. 29
GS, CC, SEAS first years - join this session to learn about summer study abroad fellowships. This merit-based fellowship provides enhanced advising and programming that supports the development of individualized global education plans. It covers the program fee for a Columbia summer study abroad program as well as a stipend to cover round-trip airfare and living expenses.

Attend an info session on CCE’s Summer Internship Programs: Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) and the Columbia College Alumni-Sponsored Student Internship Program (CCASSIP) if you are interested in gaining professional experience, working abroad and/or building a professional network over the summer. Industry Showcase: AMP (Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations) - Tuesday, Feb. 4
CCE in collaboration with Columbia Women’s Business Society will hold a panel and networking session for organizations with opportunities in advertising, marketing and public relations. Employers registered to attend: AOL, Burson-Marsteller, International Advertising Association New York Chapter and Sudler & Hennessey.

DuPont - Tuesday, Feb. 4
CC/GS and SEAS in chemistry or chemical engineering - Meet with alumni and John Larock, University Relations & College Recruiting Manager, at DuPont Talent Acquisition. This event is made possible by the Chemists' Club and AIChE.

The Columbia Engineering Internship Fund (CEIF) (Early Deadline: Feb. 4; Final Deadline: Apr.16)
SEAS students - apply for funding to support unpaid or low paying summer internships in engineering fields. CEIF supports both industry experience and research opportunities that provide hands-on engineering engagement when those opportunities would otherwise be financially difficult. Work Exemption Program - Apply by Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014
CC/SEAS students - apply for the spring semester Work Exemption Program. The program enables financial aid recipients to take advantage of unpaid internships, research projects, and volunteer work. For eligibility and application instructions, see website .

Mock Interview Program - Wednesday, Feb. 5 , Wednesday, Feb. 12 , and Tuesday, Feb. 18
Are you ready for an interview? CCE career counselors partner with Columbia alumni on to provide mock interviews. Gain experience, practice your skills, receive feedback, and improve your interview performance! Students can call CCE at 212-854-5609 to schedule 30 minute one-on-one sessions. Slots available on a first come, first served basis.
