Happy first day of the Fall Semester!

GOOD NEWS - Last year, we had over 20,000 opportunities in LionSHARE covering a diverse range of industries including media, government, auction houses, museums, finance, fashion, consulting, engineering and technology, and community development organizations (they recruit in different ways and at different times so don't fall for the hype that all we do is finance!). We also had over 800 alumni volunteers to support you through our programs. We expect to continue with this wealth of offerings and recommend that you do 3 things this semester to filter our resources and services to your needs and interests:

1. Set up a job agent in LionSHARE to be notified in a daily digest of new positions;
2. Create or update your resume ; and
3. Meet with a career counselor at CCE (you can also meet us at the Fun Run on Sept. 7).

As Prof. Vallancourt said at the Academic Assembly for the 2016 SEAS class - Connect! We look forward to reconnecting with those of you returning to campus, connecting with those of you starting out at Columbia, and connecting you all to opportunities.

Graduating students, we’ll be sending you some tailored communications this semester so look out for emails from my colleague, Alicia Wells.

There is Still Time! Enter the "Bring Your Internship to Life" Video Contest
Compete to win an Apple TV! Be creative or simply turn the "video" of your smart phone or camera on yourself for 30 seconds and answer questions to help future interns learn about "What you did at your internship?" or "What you most enjoyed about your internship?" Work Exemption Program (WEP) Fall 2012 Application Deadline
Are you pursuing an unpaid internship, research, or volunteer opportunity this fall? Do you have a work expectation in your financial aid package? Apply to WEP to have your work expectation replaced with a grant for the fall semester. The application deadline is Wed., Sept. 19. Details and the application are online.

Save the date for the Fall Career Fair!
Touch up your resume and practice your introduction for the 130+ employers including Abercrombie & Fitch, Christie’s, Everyday Health, IMS Consulting Group, Microsoft, National Security Agency, and Peace Corps that are coming to campus for the Fall Career Fair on Friday, Sept. 21 . Prepare for the fair by attending Making the Most of the Career Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 19 .
