CIEE 3260: Engineering for Developing Countries - course announcement

Engineering for Developing Communities CIEE E3260 will be offered in the spring semester 2013 Fridays from 9:10-11:00 am.  Dr. Patricia Culligan and Dr. Stephen Forbes, P.E., P.G.  

Course Description:  Introduction to engineering problems faced by developing communities around the world and exploration of design solutions in the context of a real project with a community client. Emphasis is on the design of sustainable solutions that take account of social, economical, and governance issues and that can be implemented now or in the near future. Multidisciplinary teamwork and approaches are stressed. Outside lectures address issues specific to developing communities and the particular project under consideration.
