Dear Returning Students: As you might have heard, the Libraries accelerated the closure of the Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics & Astronomy, and Psychology Libraries. These closures anticipated the previously planned consolidation of these libraries into the new science library facility to be located in the Northwest Corner Building in 2010. This change in timing was prompted by the requirement to implement a $3.4 million base budget reduction in the staff/operating budget of the Libraries for FY 2010. Services in support of research and teaching for the affected disciplines have been relocated to other campus libraries, including the Mathematics Library, until the new library facility opens in Fall 2010. Course Reserves for Physics and Chemistry will be available in the Mathematics Library, and Biology and Psychology Reserves are available in the Geology Library.. In addition we will be adding hours to the Mathematics and Engineering Library soon.
