CSA iPad Drawing Winner Announced
Wednesday, September 12, 2012 - The Center for Student Advising is pleased to announce that Patrick Lawlor, Columbia College ’13, is the winner of a new Apple iPad. Patrick’s name was drawn from a pool of students automatically entered into the contest after participating in the CSA 2011-12 student survey. Last year, 40% of the student body participated in the survey.
The 2012 student survey is a continuation of the ongoing assessment that began in 2009. The assessment seeks to examine students’ experiences with their advisers and the Center and to inform new advising initiatives. Student feedback from the assessments are helping the CSA to achieve its vision of being a trusted and indispensable source of knowledge and support for all College and Engineering students at Columbia. For example, the CSA recently launched a Peer Advising program for the 2012-2013 academic year. Eight Peer Advisers have been selected (six from CC and two from SEAS) and received extensive training. Peer Advising will supplement the services offered by the CSA, offering academic and non-academic support and helping students navigate and connect with resources at Columbia. Peer Advisers will hold office hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5 - 8 pm in the Center for Student Advising (403 Lerner), supervised by an Advising Dean. On Wednesdays, Peer Advisers will hold advising hours in the John Jay Dining Hall from 5-8pm.
