The Center for Student Advising (CSA) is establishing a Student Advisory Forum (StAF) comprised of students who represent a wide range of interests and experiences at Columbia. If you want a say in the ongoing evolution of advising at the College and SEAS, this is a great opportunity for you. The goal of StAF will be to encourage and promote dialogue among students and the Center for Student Advising. The following objectives were formulated to achieve this purpose:

• Provide a forum for direct communication between students and advisers
• Engage students in articulating and defining the role of advising throughout their time at Columbia and beyond
• Define together the expectations that students should have of advisers and the expectations that advisers should have of students
• Assist in the development and design of the new Center for Student Advising suite in Lerner
• Provide benchmarking opportunities through research of peer institutions’ advising systems
• Solicit feedback from diverse student populations
• Identify the most effective methods of outreach to students from CSA

This group will meet twice a month on Fridays between 12:00 -1:30 p.m. throughout the academic year. Students who would like to have an active role in their advising experience and enjoy collaborative leadership opportunities are encouraged to apply.
