Gain access to alumni and panelists within several industries who are interested in sharing industry trends, tips and resources to research the respective fields and personal stories and highlights from each professional about how they have navigated their path. Don’t miss these important panel sessions upstairs on the second floor of Lerner. They are scheduled throughout the Fall Career Fair as they can provide strategies for your next steps in finding a job.

All panelists will be available for a brief meet and greet for those who attend the session.


“Turning the Core Curriculum into Core Skills”

10:00 am to 11:00 am

Not sure how to translate the value of the liberal arts education into a professional career choice? Meet four professionals who have translated the value of their liberal arts education into successful careers. You’ll hear from the Chief of Staff of a progressive Not for Profit, the Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity officer for a global independent business membership and research association, a recent graduate who has developed a successful freelance communications career and a former Information Technology Director who now consults in Higher Education on the value of the liberal arts degrees for employers.

 

Careers in the Environment and Sustainable Development

11:30 am to 1:00 pm

Do you have an interest in the emerging field of “Green” careers? In partnership with the Earth Institute we are hosting four industry professionals with experience in environmental and sustainable development. They include the Director for Climate Change Law at Colum­bia Law School, the Senior Environmental Planner for the Mayor’s Office of Environmental Coordination and two other senior professionals who will be sharing trends and resources that you educate yourself on entry level positions within this growing sector.

 

Careers in Healthcare

1:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Interested in biology and medicine but not sure if you want to purse a MD? Learn about how to translate your interests and passions with the Careers in Healthcare panel. Our panelists include a Marketing Strategy Director from Wellpoint/Blue Cross advising you how to translate your experience into the emerging digital space in the industry and the Director of the NYC Electronic Adoption Center for Health who is trained in internal medi­cine and nephrology and has a long standing interest in technology and its use of improv­ing the practice of medicine. The panel will host four professionals from the business side of the healthcare industry who can share ideas about you can translate your interests in science into a position in this field.
