This year's online major declaration period runs from March 5 to March 9.

Students who would like to be considered for the Creative Writing major MUST submit an application to the Creative Writing Department in 617 Kent Hall no later than Monday, February 27th, at 5pm.

An application consists of (1) a cover sheet and (2) a writing sample.

(1) The cover sheet, which  requires you to declare a proposed concentration (fiction, nonfiction, or  poetry) is available in the undergraduate creative writing office in 617 Kent.

Please print it out, fill it out, and affix it to your writing sample.

(2) The writing sample consists  of 20 to 25 pages of double-spaced prose (fiction OR non-fiction, it can be several pieces that add up to the page requirement) or 10 poems (also not to exceed 25 pages).

Again, applications must be delivered to Kent 617 no later than Monday, February 27, at 5pm.

Late applications or applications sent by email cannot be considered.

The major declaration period runs from March 5 to March 9.

We will notify you during the week of March 5th to let you know whether or not your application has been approved.
