Kenneth Cole Community Engagement Program Applications are due (11/15)
This is a reminder that the deadline for applications to the Kenneth Cole Community Engagement Program is fast approaching! Applications are due on Monday, November 15, 2010.
This groundbreaking and innovative program will empower students with the skills necessary to implement effective community problem solving and change. During the academic year, Kenneth Cole Fellows will complete two courses and participate in a spring seminar series. We have already identified eight courses that students can choose from to meet this requirement. However, we know there are many additional courses that address issues germane to civic engagement, therefore students may ask permission for alternate courses to be approved for inclusion in the program requirements. Note that you may have already completed a course that can count toward this requirement! The program culminates in a paid summer internship project within a local organization where students will work with community partners to build community capacity, address pressing local problems, encourage social action, and strengthen the local community. The program will also provide students with summer housing.
To apply or to learn more about the program, visit www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/ocae/kennethcole or contact Todd Smith at ts2488@columbia.edu. Again, the deadline for applications is Monday, November 15, 2010.
