Technical Requirements: Botwinick Gateway Lab

What is required?

One semester of Gateway Lab, otherwise known as ENGI E1102: Design fundamentals using advanced computer technologies.

The Botwinick Gateway Lab course is the epicenter of the engineering student’s first year at Columbia Engineering. The course faculty work with students, both individually and in teams, to assess and develop the fundamental knowledge and skills required for future academic and professional success. Students learn how to apply computer technologies such as advanced three-dimensional graphical and Web applications in the service of design within multiple contexts, using the state-of-the-art multimedia, interactive facility, the Botwinick Gateway Laboratory. Aligned with the technical components of the design, students develop collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.

When?

Either fall or spring of the first year (will be taken in the semester opposite of University Writing).

Can I test out?

No.
