Student and Alumni Programs

Student and Alumni Programs, begun in August 2001, seeks to enhance the programs offered by the various units within Student Affairs by including an alumni component whenever possible, thereby increasing opportunities for interaction between current students and Columbia alumni, whether from Columbia College or The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. Undergraduates benefit in many ways from access to the intergenerational Columbia community. Not only do current students enjoy meeting alumni and learning from their experiences but, over time, will come to understand through the examples set by countless alumni that our connection to Columbia is not simply a four year connection but one that is life-long. For undergraduates, increased contact with the alumni community can serve to reinforce Columbia traditions, develope loyalty, instill school pride, and underscore the responsibility each member of the community has to give back.
