Parent & Family Programs
The Dean of Student Affairs Office approaches
our relationship with students from the viewpoint
that recognizes their status as young adults,
since most of our undergraduates are the majority
age 18. With that in mind, although the university's
primary relationship is with the students, we
see the relationship with parents and family members
as equally important. The Dean of Student Affairs
Office is dedicated to developing Parent
& Family Programs to help address the
needs of parents and encourage them to become
involved in the campus and greater Columbia community.
The Parent and Family Connection
Web site is the central online source for
Parent & Family Programs. Parents will find
information on Family Orientation, Family Weekend
and other events. This is also the primary source
of information on volunteering through the Columbia
Family Association. Volunteer activities range
from assisting Undergraduate Admissions with recruitment
efforts to volunteering for hospitality or speaking
engagements at major events.
The Family Connection newsletter works in conjunction
with the Web site as a great source for important
dates and helpful information for parents and
families. Family Connection, published once per
semester, features articles about student life,
on-campus activity and programs, and Columbia
University news.
