Application for Host Organizations

SELECTION CRITERIA

Criteria on which Columbia University will base its selection may include, without limitation, the following:

  1. The potential impact of the project on the community.
  2. The quality of the opportunity for Fellows to learn about community engagement and change. Preference will be given to projects which allow for meaningful contact between the Fellows and community members. 
  3. The potential of the identified community need to be translated into a quality, team-based internship project manageable within a 10-week period.
  4. The quality of the proposal and the degree to which it demonstrates the potential client’s full understanding of the program. Preference will be given to solution-oriented projects with measureable results.
  5. The proposed client’s commitment to providing staff time to liaise with Columbia administrators and work with the Fellows.

Please list all staff members who will be involved with this project
Include those staff members who will: work with the Fellows from March through May to fully visualize the project; supervise the fellows during the June-August internship period; have primary responsibility for managing the organization's participation in the project; and any other staff members who will participate in the proposed project.
Description of ideas for the internship project
This document should include: (1) a detailed description of the critical local problem; (2) activities the fellows might undertake to address the problem; (3) how the potential project fits into the organization's mission; and (4) the intended impact on the organization's constituencies. Please refer to the Selection Criteria at the top of this page when drafting your proposal. Documents must be in either PDF or Microsoft Word format and should be no longer than three pages in length.
