FAQs
Who is invited to Senior Week events? All undergraduate students from BC, CC, GS, or SEAS who are considered graduating seniors. This also includes fall and winter graduates of 2012. The TIC has a list of all Seniors so all events are exclusively just for you! If your name is not on the list for some reason, just email us and let us know.
Where do I buy tickets? You may purchase tickets beginning on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the TIC Office located in Lerner Hall. Tickets must be purchased in person with a valid CUID/BCID. For the TIC hours, please click here.
How many tickets may I purchase at once? Every event has the ticket limit listed next to the prices.
Do I have to go to everything? No. Most students pick and choose which programs they want to do. It's really up to you!
Can I bring a date to the Senior Ball if he or she is not a CU student or a CU Senior? Absolutely. However, only CUID Seniors can purchase Senior Week tickets. You would want to purchase two tickets at one time for the ball.
Can I bring a date to the Senior Boat Cruise? Because of our limited capacity on the boat, we are limiting this event to CUID seniors only. Sorry!
What is offered in regards to food and drinks at the Senior Ball and Boat Cruise? We'll have plenty of finger food at both events, and the Senior Ball will be buffet style. Neither event has a full course meal. You may want to grab something light beforehand because they are also open bar events. Please keep that in mind when going out with friends before the events. If you require a Kosher meal for the Senior Ball or Senior Cruise, then you must e-mail seniorweek@columbia.edu by Wednesday, May 1, 2013 for the Cruise and Monday, May 6, 2013 for the Senior Ballto reserve a Kosher meal. If we do not receive your request by the above dates, then a Kosher meal is not guaranteed.
What if I show up to an event and I forgot my ticket(s)? For all events that require tickets, especially the Senior Ball and the Boat Cruise, it is ESSENTIAL that all attendees bring their ticket. We will not grant you entrance without tickets and you will be asked to go back to campus to get your ticket (which won’t be possible with the Boat Cruise because we leave at 9pm sharp).
What if I purchase tickets and then decide not to go to an event? The TIC does not offer exchanges or refunds; therefore, you are in charge of reselling your ticket(s) to someone else. However, you can only sell your ticket(s) to other Seniors!
What should I wear to Senior Week events? Depends on the event! We try our best to list the dress codes for programs where it truly matters (Senior Ball, Boat Cruise). When it doubt, you can always emails us for more guidance.
Can my friend who is not a senior attend any of the Senior Week events outside of the Senior Ball? As much as it pains us, we have to say no -- these events were planned exclusively for seniors and many of them have maximum capacities. We want to ensure that we can cater to as many seniors as possible!
I'm a junior, but I'm walking with the Class of 2013. Will I still be able to participate in Senior Week? Absolutely! As long as you are going to be a part of our commencement, you are eligible to take part in Senior Week.
Why are the Senior Ball and Boat Cruise tickets a bit higher? Senior Week is not a program that is funded by the University. Programs are made possible by fundraising and class council donations. Those funds then help us to subsidize the actual costs of tickets. For example, Senior Ball tickets are $136 at cost with the venue, but we are selling them at a rate of $98. This is almost a $40 discount.
Please check out the Facebook page for the latest updates. For questions, please email seniorweek@columbia.edu.
Programs are created and developed by a committee of seniors from all four undergraduate schools.
