Passing the torch

If for some reason you are no longer going to be functioning as Adviser for a given group or staffing changes have occurred in your department and you need to reassign an adviser within your department, you can change the adviser of a group by completeing the following steps:

  1. go to the Reassign Groups page
  2. click the check box next to the group(s) you would like to reassign
    1. if you would like to reassign all groups belonging to a particular person fill in that adviser's UNI in the "Filter by Adviser UNI" box and click "Apply"
    2. to select all groups, use the checkbox at the top of the check box column
  3. fill in the new group owner in the "Username:" box at the top of the screen
  4. scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "change author of a post" button

Alternatively, you can write an email to ccit@columbia.edu with the following information:

  • the name of the group(s) for which you will no longer be adviser
  • the UNI of the adviser who will be taking your place
  • when you would like the changes to take effect
