Judicial Affairs and Community Standards

The Office of Judicial Affairs is responsible for assisting students in the maintenance of a safe, honest and responsible campus community.

Students may come in contact with the OJA if they have been alleged to have engaged in behavior that is inconsistent with University or College and SEAS policies. When such an allegation is made students may be required to participate in a Dean’s Discipline hearing. (For more information, please see our Dean’s Discipline Process page.)

A Resource for Students

In addition to holding students accountable for their behavior through the Dean’s Discipline process the OJA also serves as a resource for students who seek to develop skills and learn processes they can use to hold each other accountable when they encounter inappropriate behavior among their peers.

Education

The OJA also works with various offices on campus to create and execute programs designed to educate students about the potential impact of their actions on both their individual lives and the university community at large. Please see our educational projects page to view a list of programs that have been presented by the OJA.

Policies

Finally, the OJA strives to make university rules, regulations, policies and procedures logistically and intellectually accessible to students. To learn more about the important policies and procedures that govern our community please visit our policies section.
