The Brotherhood of African Heritage Project (the Brotherhood) provides community building and leadership programming for young men of Black African-heritage on the Columbia campus. The Brotherhood challenges participants to see themselves and the concerns of Black students as central to campus life and is dedicated to developing strong leaders who will add their voice to important campus dialogues.
The Brotherhood consists of 10 and 15 core members who sponsor various programs that unite the Black community at Columbia and pay tribute to a strong heritage. The “Queen’s Pride” celebration - a tribute to Black womanhood at CU by Black men, is an example of successful programs that the group has contributed to the CU community.
Calls for new membership will go out in the beginning of the Fall 2007. Columbia men of African Heritage should contact the Office of Multicultural Affairs for more information.
