School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) Dean Travel Fund

The Dean of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) has provided opportunities for supplemental support to undergraduate engineering students and activities that align with the mission of SEAS, allow for the professional development of SEAS students and/or use engineering in the service of others.

For 2023-2024, applications for the fund will open by September 22, 2023.

Who May Apply 

Any undergraduate Columbia Engineering student who is in good standing with the University and is a member of a University-recognized student group or University-affiliated program. 

Deadlines

For virtual or domestic opportunities, groups should apply four weeks prior to the event. 

For international opportunities, groups should apply eight weeks prior to the event. 

Funding Types

Engineering Groups Conference, Networking and Competition Fund

Purpose

The fund is offered to help facilitate professional development, networking and “peer-recognition” opportunities in the field of engineering and applied science. 

Eligible Requests

Grants may be requested to help underwrite participation in conferences, seminars, engineering student group competition or trainings that correspond to the focus of the identified engineering student group.

Engineering Students Service Learning Travel Support Fund

Purpose

The fund is offered to promote responsible engineering domestically and abroad.

Eligible Requests

Grants may be requested to help underwrite participation in University-affiliated, domestic or international service related initiatives where grantees serve as a representative of the Engineering school or the University at large.  

Non-Engineering Related Travel Fund

Purpose

The fund is offered to help offset the cost of students traveling in non-engineering related student group events- performance, activism, academic competitions, etc. 

Eligible Requests

Grants may be requested to help underwrite participation in student group travel that is not related to engineering. This track has LIMITED funding.
