Biomedical Science Training & Enrichment Program (BioSTEP) is designed to introduce underrepresented minority groups to biomedical research. Participants work in the laboratories of faculty members. Research training opportunities include: clinical research, cellular & molecular physiology, neuroscience, genetics and developmental biology, immunobiology and pharmacology. Participants are provided with a stipend of about $4,500, travel expenses and room and board.
Eligibility:
Candidates must have completed their sophomore year in college, be from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, demonstrated academic excellence in math and science courses, have substantial volunteer experiences and community service, be committed to caring for the under-served and disadvantaged, and be citizens or permanent residents of the US.
