The Nathan Schnaper Cancer Research Summer Intern Program, University of Maryland
The Nathan Schnaper Cancer Research Summer Intern Program matches undergraduate students with MSG Cancer Center faculty who will serve as their mentors for the summer internship. Interns will conduct research in one of many ongoing areas of investigation including cancer drug resistance, signal transduction, programmed cell death, molecular pharmacology, angiogenesis, and carcinogenesis. In addition to laboratory work on their specific projects, interns learn about diverse aspects of cancer research through weekly discussions with the research mentors. Social activities that are organized with mentors and Program benefactors provide an opportunity for informal interactions, and for interns to learn more about the MSGCC research community. At the conclusion of the internship, the interns deliver an oral presentation of their research to the mentors, Program sponsors, and research faculty.
