Our University occupies historic Lenape territory. More than half of the first ten presidents of our University enslaved Black families. Our University has contributed to displacement and gentrification in the Harlem community. Our University prides itself on free speech and robust intellectual discourse. Our University has produced groundbreaking scholarship by and about people of color. Our University prohibits discrimination and has denounced white supremacy. Our University has produced students — past and current — who are leading voices of change. Our University has a responsibility to combat racism. Our University is ours.

Multicultural Affairs invites all members of the Columbia community to participate in a day of learning and conversation that explores what it means to build an anti-racist Columbia on Friday, April 5, 9:30 a.m.5:00 p.m. in the James Room of Barnard Hall.

Come for one session or the full day. Breakfast and lunch will be served, and the first fifty students who register for and attend at least two sessions will get a free copy of a book about challenging white supremacy.
