Multicultural Affairs invites all members of the Columbia community to participate in a day of learning and conversation that explores what it means to build an anti-racist Columbia on Friday, April 5, 9:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. in the James Room of Barnard Hall.

Come for one session or the full day. Breakfast and lunch will be served, and the first fifty students who register for and attend at least two sessions will get a free copy of a book about challenging white supremacy.

Sessions

Breakfast and Foundations of Anti-Racism Workshop, 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

This workshop will explore racial oppression and its maintenance and consider strategies and frameworks for opposing it at all of its levels.

Lunch and Perspectives on Race and the Columbia Experience, 12:30–2:00 p.m.

This lunchtime session will center the voices of Columbia community members and consider how race shapes experiences on Columbia’s campus.

Creating Community Commitments: Intra- and Intergroup Dialogue, 2:00–5:00 p.m.

Our day will close with affinity caucus spaces and community conversation to consider what we need from one another to build a truly anti-racist campus. Takeaways will be documented and shared with students and senior University administrators.
