Colby King is an African American and African Diaspora Studies Major born in Houston and raised in Dallas, Texas. He is grateful to have met many students over the past few years and has hoped to make Columbia a more welcoming place for all its community members. Through his role as University Senator, former Race and Ethnicity Representative of Columbia College Student Council, and leader in the Black Students’ Organization, he has pushed for institutional accountability for policing and public safety, increased support of first-generation and low-income students, and equitable recruitment of faculty and students of color across the university.
