Award Recognition

Health and Wellness
As an EMT for Columbia University Emergency Medical Service (CUEMS) since 2019, Grace Prochilo has demonstrated a sincere commitment to promoting the health and wellness of everyone in the Morningside Heights community. During her term as Captain for CUEMS, she served as the highest-ranking member of the Executive Board, working directly with Columbia Health and the Department of Public Safety to ensure that the service could continue to provide life-saving prehospital care to individuals in need. Grace was invited to represent Columbia University at a White House panel focused on expanding COVID-19 vaccination rates, where she shared insight into how the university encouraged COVID-19 vaccination from the perspective of a student leader. Striving to support the healthcare needs of New York City at large, Grace also worked for a mobile urgent care company, Ready Responders, at the height of the pandemic to provide affordable at-home care to patients.
What an honor to be recognized by the Columbia community for this award! I would like to thank my friends, family, and research mentors for their guidance and encouragement along this journey. Huge shoutout to my fellow EMTs and our Medical Directors at CUEMS for their support and dedication to serving the medical and mental health needs of our Morningside Heights community.
