James Wang is being recognized for his dedication to Columbia Engineering, particularly for his involvement as the Academic Affairs Representative on Engineering Student Council. Having served for two consecutive terms, James successfully advocated and drove policies leading to equitable opportunities for all students during the COVID-19 pandemic, many of which still have a lasting impact today. He has also served as a Head Teaching Assistant for Artificial Intelligence, Co-Chair of the Asian Columbia Mentorship Initiative Family Tree, and an executive member of Global China Connection. Through it all, James's dedication and persistence has fostered community and greatly improved the experiences of his peers in these unprecedented times. James is also the recipient of the Thomas "Pop" Harrington Medal.
