Edgardo Zelaya is being recognized for his commitment to expanding the reach and impact of Undergraduate Admissions. As a student in the Academic Success Programs, Edgardo realized the importance of creating a more diverse campus, as well as increasing the awareness of resources Columbia has to provide. Through Edgardo's leadership in the office, he created opportunities for more diverse and underrepresented voices to represent Columbia's community, specifically focusing on first generation, low-income students. He also used his platform to share his journey to Columbia to help others imagine what their journeys might look like and inspire them to achieve a higher education. Additionally, Edgardo is on the committee of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Statistics department, providing his valuable perspective as an undergraduate student.
