Submit a proposal to the ABP!
Submit a proposal to the ABP!
Eligibility
In order to apply as a Trip Leader and submit preliminary and final proposals, you must currently be a Columbia College or Columbia Engineering undergraduate taking classes on Columbia’s Morningside Heights Campus.
Students who are graduating seniors may only lead winter or spring trips.
Students who are studying abroad in the fall semester may apply as a co-Trip Leader for spring and summer trips as long as there is a single Trip Leader located at Columbia’s Morningside Heights Campus.
How to submit a proposal
- Review all information on the ABP website and be sure you can make a strong commitment to leading your trip and to the ABP program.
- Review important dates and deadlines. As a trip leader, it is crucial that you attend all ABP trainings in addition to your own group meetings.
- View our ABP Final Proposal Sample.pdf to use as a guide. Keep in mind that this is a sample of a final round proposal and is therefore more detailed than what the ABP expects of a preliminary proposal. However, the more developed your ideas are. the stronger your application will be.
- Fill out and submit the Preliminary Proposal.
Proposal Process
- Once all Preliminary Proposals are submitted, the ABP Student Advisory Board will review them. After all proposals are reviewed, they are returned with comments and suggestions to each applicant.
- Those who have submitted a proposal are either invited to submit a Final Proposal, or rejected.
- Once all Final Proposals are submitted, the ABP Student Advisory Board may request an interview.
- After all interviews are completed, the ABP Student Advisory Board will submit funding recommendations to the ABP Administrators.
- The ABP Administrators may approve, modify, or reject these recommendations. Once a decision has been made, the ABP Student Advisory Board will be notified.
- The ABP Student Advisory Board will then notify those who have submitted a proposal whether or not they have been accepted with financial support, or accepted without financial support, or rejected.
