After a very successful Student Affairs Day of Service last year to assist with the Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts, we’ve decided to plan another program! We are excited to partner with the Food Bank for New York to plan a voluntary opportunity for staff members to help at their warehouse in Hunts Point (Bronx).
As one of the country's largest food banks, the Food Bank for New York procures and distributes food to a network of more than 1,000 community-based member programs citywide, helping to provide 400,000 free meals a day for New Yorkers in need. Volunteers are essential to the Food Bank’s operations. Warehouse volunteers will be tasked with breaking down bulk food containers, then sorting and repackaging the food into boxes suitable for the city's food pantries and soup kitchens.
If you are interested in participating in the Day of Service on Friday, January 10, please fill out the webform below to RSVP. Pending availability, volunteers will work together at the site for a half-day, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lunch for the volunteers will be provided upon arrival back to campus.
Further information will follow detailing what you should wear, meet up time, and locations.
Thank you for being a part of Team Student Affairs!
