Office of Parent and Family Programs

Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Office of Parent and Family Programs. With your help, the Office will continue to offer programs and resources for families of incoming and current Columbia students.

Please take a moment to review available opportunities and submit your information online to express interest in specific roles. Thank you for your support!

Panelist: Participate in a panel and answer questions about your Columbia experience. Typical audiences include admitted or incoming first-year students and families. Help them prepare for life as a member of the Columbia community!

Greeter: Assist with registration at events in New York City and around the country, answer questions, and generally welcome parents, families, and students as they arrive and check in for various programs.

Event Host: If you would like to open up your home or office to host an event for Columbia families, the Office of Parent and Family Programs occasionally looks for space to host anything from casual get togethers to formal advising sessions.

Event Sponsor: If you would like to be involved in an event but are unable to host, consider sponsoring part of an event. Contributions of food, beverages, or other hospitality items are a great way to get involved and show your support for Columbia programs.

Contributor: Throughout the year, the Office of Parent and Family Programs prepares newsletters and other communications and publications to keep families informed. Write articles, contribute pictures, and suggest ideas for relevant themes and topics.

Blogger: The Office of Parent and Family Programs hosts a blog as a way for parents to stay in regular communication with one another. Add thoughts, resources, and stories to the blog, or answer questions and offer advice. Visit the blog at: columbia-parents.blogspot.com.

Parent Guide: Help other families adjust to life with a student at Columbia. Answer questions, share e-mails, and assist families with this transition.
