Internship Opportunity: Healthcare Counseling
Open to: Columbia University Spanish-speaking Public and Pre-health Students
(Jan. 2012 – Aug 2012)
The Medicare Rights Center is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs and public policy initiatives.
Since 1989, we have been helping people with Medicare understand their rights and benefits, navigate the Medicare system and secure the quality care they deserve.
Healthcare Counseling Internship
We are currently seeking two Spanish-speaking helpline interns to assist people with their health care issues over the phone. Through one-on-one counseling and advocacy, helpline counselors help people make choices that affect their health and financial well-being.
No prior Medicare knowledge is necessary. An interest in health and a passion for working with people to help them secure healthcare benefits is a must. Interns are expected to make a commitment to one helpline shift each week (4 hours), from January 2012 through August 2012.
Schedule is flexible.
Candidates must be bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
