Description

HCC offers ten-week, full-time summer internships from mid-June through mid- August. Interns are paid educational and training stipends of approximately $300 - $450 per week. Through our internship sponsors, HCC places qualified candidates in leading California (San Francisco Bay Area, Greater Los Angeles/San Diego, San Joaquin Valley), New England, New York, and New Jersey health care and public health organizations. Efforts are made to accommodate intern health interests, geographic preferences, and skill sets in finalizing placements.

HCC offers internship placements in Hospitals, Clinics, Health Plans, Policy-based Agencies, Health Advocacy, Medical Groups, Public Health Departments, Community Health Organizations, Foundations and Consulting Firms. Interns work with senior and program managers to understand the organization’s strategy and operations, work on important projects, develop valuable professional networks, and attend events.

To take a look at what former interns have done, please visit our Case Studies and Alumni Spotlight pages.

The internship program includes valuable workshops on life and career planning, preparing for graduate education, advocacy, leadership, and cultural competency. HCC also connects students to our prestigious graduate school partners, including the Schools of Public Health at the University of California (UC) Berkeley, Harvard, and Columbia, as well as the Health Services Management Program at UC Los Angeles and the Department of Public Health at California State University at Fresno.

The HCC summer internship program has been successful for many years.  Interns have gone on to graduate and medical schools, and/or have refined their career objectives.  Selected students are offered job opportunities after their internships and/or upon completion of their education by their host and/or other organizations.
