Cristen Scully-Kromm and her family live in the LLC. In August of 2006, Cristen began as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for Community Development and the Director for the Office of Residential Programs at Columbia College and The Fu Foundation for Engineering and Applied Science. After working in the Human Sexual and Gender Development Living-Learning Center at SUNY Stony Brook for nearly two years, Cristen began at Barnard College as the First-Year Focus Area Director. She served in that capacity from January 2000-May 2003, when she was appointed Director of College Activities at Barnard. She worked closely with the Student Government Association and New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) recognized student clubs, and all aspects of co-curricular life. Her passion lies with community development within a residential context and she is thrilled to be at Columbia as she enjoys living and working with students. She hopes to meet you at one of the Alumni Series dinners or to chat with you in the elevator. Be sure to introduce yourself and strike up a conversation. In addition to work, her family is extremely important and she enjoys precious time with them out of the city at their old farmhouse where she can be found hiking, reading, cooking, and simply relaxing.
Within her home, as a program component of the LLC, the Dean-in-Residence hosts monthly dinners with an intimate group of LLC students and prominent alumni. As a resident of the LLC, be sure to look out for e-mail invitations regarding the upcoming dinners.
