The Emerging Leaders Program

Apply Now!Are you interested in getting involved on campus? Would you like to discover your leadership ability? Would you like to develop your leadership skills? The Emerging Leaders Program is a new leadership development opportunity for first and second year students which will help you develop your leadership potential and contribute positively to the Columbia community. We are now accepting applications for this spring inaugural program.

Program Components

The Emerging Leaders Program is a semester long experience made up of four distinct components.

Leadership Framesworks >> Who Am I? >> Getting There >> Leadership Labs

Leadership Frameworks- An understanding of general leadership models and theories and their application to your college experience.

Who Am I? - An assessment of your personal leadership style, skill level, experiences and development of your personal leadership mission.

Getting There - The tools and information needed to get started and create your own long-term action plan.

Leadership Labs - A unique leadership experience where you will work with a team of students and an advisor to develop, coordinate, and launch a project of your choosing within the Columbia community.

After successfully completing the program, you will be given the opportunity to become an integral part of LEAD by acting as a mentor to future participants of the program and/or by helping to coordinate future sessions.

Benefits of the Emerging Leaders Program

  • Build strong foundation of leadership skills to help you make the transition from high school through college and beyond

  • Form strong bonds with your fellow students in the Emerging Leaders Program

    other developing leaders

  • Build relationships with key administrators and staff across the campus community

  • Earn a LEAD Certificate in recognition of your leadership accomplishments within the Columbia community
