Events

The following is a short list of events that are scheduled through the Office of Student Development and Activities. For the most up-to-date information on events, programs, and dates, email Ty Gonzalez, Manager of Leadership Programs, at tg164@columbia.edu or visit the Leadership Office in 515 Lerner Hall.

Activities Day is a unique event where students are introduced to over 300 recognized clubs and organizations. This year, Activities Day is Friday, September 7 th, from 12-4pm.

The Student Government Officer Retreat is open to all elected officials of the Engineering Student Council and the Columbia College Student Council. Participants retreat to a camp where they have the opportunity to develop close relationships with other council members and think strategically about their vision, mission, goals, and action plans for the upcoming year. This year’s retreat is scheduled for October 5-6 th.

The Emerging Leaders Program: Participant selection takes place in the fall. Look out for our posters on campus or visit www.emergingleaders.info. The program begins the first week of classes in the spring semester and meets weekly.

The Women’s Ways of Leading Conference: Interested students should email sdalead@columbia.edu to apply for the planning committee, which meets in the fall semester. The conference is usually held the first weekend in March to commemorate Womyn’s Herstory Month.

The 2008 King’s Crown Leadership Awards Ceremony is an opportunity for student leaders to be honored for their accomplishments throughout the school year. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, May 1 st, from 5-7pm.
