Applying for the Degree

In order to be eligible to graduate, you must officially apply for your degree. The Junior Senior Advising Center will host an Apply for the Degree event in early November where you will be able to submit your degree application. Before the event you will receive a copy of the degree application to fill out. In case that you miss these opportunities, you can always download the degree application from the Registrar's Web site and submit the form directly to the Diploma Division (202 Kent Hall at the University Registrar.

What You Need to Know About the Application for the Degree

  • Degrees are conferred in February, May, and October.

Deadlines for the Application for the Degree:

  • November 1 for February
  • December 1 for May
  • August 1 for October

Please Note: when a deadline for the application falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day.

  • When completing the Application for the Degree, make sure to write your name as it appears on your transcript because that is how your name will appear on your diploma.
    • If you need to change how your name appears on your transcript, fill out the Name Change Affidavit section on the Application for the Degree.
  • The Application for the Degree is used to generate:
    • the list of all students eligible to participate in Class Day and University Commencement.
    • the list of graduating seniors in the Class Day programs
    • Graduation Clearance forms for the registrar and your major/concentration department
    • your diploma
