Post-graduation Options and Services
Considering Graduate, Law, or Medical School?
Whether and when to continue your education is an important decision, since graduate or
professional school requires a significant commitment of time, energy, and money. It also
means turning down other opportunities that may come your way during that time. As you
begin your research, the first questions you should ask yourself are:
Fortunately, there are many resources to help you make
an informed decision about whether or not to apply to
graduate, law or medical school. Among those resources
are the faculty in your department, the Center
for Career Education, the Junior Senior
Advising Center, the Pre-Professional
Office, the Internet, the library, and alumni. Remember
to check the weekly emails for information on events
related to these options. For additional links on researching

Fellowship Options
If you are interested in applying for a fellowship,
your first stop should be Columbia's Student Affairs
Fellowships Web site,
which contains a listing of fellowships available
to seniors. We suggest that students
consult with a class dean
before and during the application process.

Eligibility and Deadlines: Please
keep in mind that pre-applications for some post-graduate
study, including Fulbright, Rhodes and Marshall
fellowships, are due during spring of junior year.

Other Options and Resources
Graduating from Columbia University does not mean cutting
ties with us. The Columbia experience, although initially
focused over four years, does not end with graduation.
There are a variety of services that Columbia offers its
exiting senior class after graduation:
Center for Career Education (CCE)
- CCE has staff and resources to help undergraduates and
alumni create a personalized career development plan.
CCE can assist with

Columbia College Alumni
Columbia College and Columbia University are happy to
offer special benefits and services to College alumni.
Many of these services, such as Columbia College Today
and e-mail forwarding, are free of charge; others, such
as borrowing privileges from the Columbia University Library
or access to the Dodge Fitness Center, require a fee.

SEAS Alumni
All Columbia Engineering graduates are eligible for many programs
and services provided to Columbia University Alumni, such as
