Combined Plan Programs for the B.A. and B.S.
Columbia University's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) maintains relationships with institutions nationwide, and with other Columbia University undergraduate divisions. These programs allow students to complete the equivalent of the First Year-Sophomore Program and transfer directly to a field of specialization in The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, beginning their study at the SEAS as junior-level students.
Students will find the tools of modern technology that will enable them to pursue diverse interests in our rapidly changing environment while reaping the benefits of a world-class teaching and research university, located in arguably the most exciting city in the world.
The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science is committed to an educational philosophy that believes that a broad, rigorous exposure to the liberal arts is the surest chart with which an engineer can navigate the future. The Combined Plan is the ultimate example of this philosophy.

Admissions Requirements
Guaranteed admission into The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science's undergraduate Combined Plan Program is offered to applicants who have met the following requirements.
Although articulation agreements vary slightly, the following lists the basic required classes for guaranteed admission. (Please see your Combined Plan liaison for specifics.)
Although the above courses are required for guaranteed admission, an applicant who has not met the requirements is still considered for admission, at the discretion of the Combined Plan admissions committee. The Economics and English requirements, in particular, can be completed the summer before your first year at SEAS or, if your schedule allows, during your first year at SEAS.
Please note that it is highly recommended that a student take other courses in addition to those required for guaranteed admission as prescribed by the department of one's intended major at SEAS.* Completion of the recommended course work will more likely ensure graduation in two years.
*Refer to the Pre-Combined Plan Curriculum Guide for the name and description of the courses recommended for each specific major.
