As you prepare to arrive at Columbia, there are several things that you should be thinking about. Some of these have already been addressed, and some may need to be addressed in the near future. Please pay close attention to deadlines.
You will receive a copy of the 2015-16 Academic Planning Guide in the mail, which covers much of the information below.
Housing and Move-in Information
All transfer students are invited to move in on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. You will receive a mailing with more specific move-in procedures and other important information to help prepare for your arrival on campus. You will also receive an email from Columbia Housing with your housing assignment, if applicable.
Columbia College transfer students will receive an email from Dean Orr with specific instructions on how to petition for exemption from core courses. Please read that email carefully, note the stated deadlines, and contact Dean Orr or your advising dean within the Center for Student Advising (CSA) with any questions.
Columbia Engineering transfer students will receive email communication from Dean Gifford. This includes information on petitioning non-technical “core” courses as well as foundational science courses. Please contact Dean Gifford with any questions.
Registration information will be provided at a later date.
Contact information for your CSA Advising Dean will be found at the bottom of the tentative TCE you received with your admissions materials. We strongly suggest that you schedule a 15-30 minute pre-registration telephone appointment with your adviser the week before registration, and please don’t hesitate to contact your adviser with questions in the meantime!
You'll find important information--including deadlines--about a range of topics, such as getting your Columbia ID card, immunization documents, and meal plans, on the New Student Website.
