More from Soundscape: starting Monday October 1
Monday, October 1, 2012 - 1:09am - Thursday, October 18, 2012 - 2:17am
Two years ago WKCR introduced the online archive of audio and visual materials from the NYC performance venue Soundscape. Through periodic updates, more and more of the story is unfolding. The latest additions are going up this month—several sets on air in the coming week, new images, research tools and stream-able performances from the website.
The spotlight begins Monday October 1 with an introductory program focusing on John Tchicai on Afternoon New Music, followed by a visit from Steve Turre in studio to discuss a 1979 performance with Mitch Goldman on Jazz Alternatives.
The Latin Jazz Hour at midnight tonight takes you to a front row seat for Soundscape’s Afro-Cuban Jam sessions, and Transfigured Night thereafter will include rare sounds from different nights of the same stage.
Stay tuned for more details of the coming days’ fireworks.
