Preludes and Fugues by Bach and Shostakovich played alongside each other. Shostakovich was inspired to write his collection of 24 Preludes and Fugues after hearing pianist Tatiana Nikolayeva playing Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier at Leipzig's 1950 Bicentennial Bach competition.
