This was my last show for WKCR so I decided to a special broadcast on the history of New Orleans piano music.  Moving chronologically through time starting with Louis Moreau Gottschalk (1829-1869) and ending with Henry Butler (1949 - present), I tried to touch on all of the most famous piano players to come out of New Orleans including Jelly Roll Morton, Professor Longhair, Fats Dominio, and Dr. John.    The New Orleans piano style has been a particular interest of mine since joining KCR.  I've interviewed both Allen Toussaint and Henry Butler on the program Something Inside of Me during my time here, and I've been playing New Orleans style piano since I was ten years old.   Hope you enjoyed the show!
