* SPECIAL PROGRAM *
Luzmila Carpio is a Bolivian singer born in the indigenous community of Qala Qala, Ayllu Panacachi. She sings in both Quechua and Spanish with a distinctive, bird-like voice and plays the charango, traditional cord instrument of the Andes. As a child, her mother taught her the beauty of nature through song, which she cites as one of her main purposes as an artist. In 2006, Bolivian president Evo Morales, also of indigenous roots, named her the Bolivian ambassador to France.
