Today's Out to Lunch program featured releases from the Strata-East record label, which was founded by Charles Tolliver and Stanley Cowell in 1971. The label, in operation from 1971 to 1977, gave their artists full control over their music, creating an inclusive, supportive cultural space for musical expression and jazz in the late 1960s and 70s.
