EXTENDED Arts and Answers, Tuesday 9:15-10: Zilvinas Kempinas (artist) and John Hatfield (executive director)

In his first presentation at Socrates Sculpture Park, Lithuanian and Queens-based artist Žilvinas Kempinas created the largest sculpture that the Park has seen. Minimal and magical, Scarecrow is a 250-foot-long, thirteen-foot-high kinetic pathway composed of 200 stainless steel, mirrored poles connecting energetic slopes of silver Mylar ribbon overhead. Listen here for exclusive insight into this pole-and-tape structure, its place in Socrates, and Socrates place in and history with Long Island City, Queens. John Hatfield shares these details about Socrates, as well as a reminder to visit the Park while the current projects are still on view (through this weekend). Hosted by Zoë Flood Tardino.
