This week, Live Constructions (Sunday, 10-11pm) will feature a live recording from Chris Corsano (MA, drums), Paul Flaherty (CT, sax), and C. Spencer Yeh (OH/NYC, violin). The trio came to WKCR studios to record this material on March 10th, 2011. Corsano, Flaherty, and Yeh are each active improvisors in varying contexts, from free jazz and improvised music to noise music and electro-acoustic experimentation. The Corsano-Flaherty duo (The Hated Music) and C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core) have been prolific in their collaborations with other major figures in New Music -- Tony Conrad, Thurston Moore, John Weise, Aaron Dilloway, and Evan Parker number among their musical associates -- and continue to create new and inspiring spontaneous works, punctuated by bursts of chaotic intensity and moments of hushed sensitivity.
